How to Be an Ethical Veterinary Technician

The common goal of veterinary technicians is to promote animal health. In fact, in order to be ethical animal health technicians, there are many points for the vet techs to take into account when they are performing their duty.
First of all, it is important for all the vet techs to provide excellent care and quality services for all the animals whenever and wherever they are. It is their duty to prevent animal abuse and take good care of the animals in the animal shelters. It is also their job to relieve and comfort the suffering animals. Furthermore, it is the effort of the veterinary technicians to collaborate with all the members in veterinary medical line to ensure quality health care services for all animals as well as their owners.
All the vet techs are carrying an important social responsibility. They are accountable in promoting public health. They play an important role in assisting with the control of animal diseases and informing the public about the related diseases which may affect human health. They are also responsible in maintaining a balanced environment.
As we know all the vet techs are requested by the state governments to attend continuing education programs every 2 years for renewal of their license. It is a must for them to obtain latest information and new technology from time to time. Apart from the legislation, as ethical vet techs, they should always remain competent in the veterinary technology through their own commitment in lifelong learning.
To sum up, in order to meet the ethical obligations of this profession, it is advised that all the veterinary technicians should always refer to the code of ethics which are clearly stated by American Veterinary Technician Board.
